Wesley G. Marshall Reappointed as Commissioner

[Richmond, VA]- On January 16, 2018, the General Assembly of Virginia reappointed Wesley G. Marshall as Commissioner of the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission (VWC) for a six-year term. He is currently serving his third year as the Commission’s Chairman. The VWC’s three Commissioners – Wesley G. Marshall, R. Ferrell Newman, and Robert A. Rapaport – serve as appellate-level judges at the agency and direct its operations and staff of 290.
Chairman Marshall, of Richmond, was appointed to the Commission in 2012. From 1988 to 2012, he was an attorney in private practice, primarily representing plaintiffs in workers’ compensation, employment and other civil litigation. He was educated at the University of Virginia where he earned his B.A. with distinction in 1985 and his J.D. in 1988. Chairman Marshall serves on the Executive Committee of the Southern Association of Workers’ Compensation Administrators, the Dispute Resolution Committee of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions and was a founding member of the Virginia Workers’ Compensation American Inn of Court. In 2015, he was inducted as a Fellow in the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers.
