The Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission is proud to announce its participation in the recent American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event held at Mechanicsville High School in Mechanicsville, Virginia. The Relay For Life movement is dedicated to helping communities attack cancer. The Commission was the top fundraiser for the event.

Team Captains for VWC's Relay for Life Team were Ms. Stephanie Sweeney, EDI Quality Assurance Manager and Ms. Brandi McAteer, Claims Services Senior Analyst. More than 100 donations were made for the Commission's team for this organization.

“As the Chair of the Commission’s Community Service Committee, I take great pride in being able to work with my Commission family to help our community. The Relay for Life event is one of my favorite events to organize because of the impact I have seen this horrible disease have on my family and friends. Team VWC did an amazing job and I am so proud of our fundraising efforts and our ability to help in the fight against cancer," said Stephanie Sweeney.

The Commission supports the community and volunteer participation of Team members through the initiative, VWC GIVES. This volunteer committee works throughout the year coordinating and hosting volunteer opportunities for VWC Team members to participate.
